Canada Immigration: Invitation to Express Entry Programme

Canada is a multicultural nation renowned for its captivating landscapes, thriving culture, and friendly people. In recent years, immigrants seeking to start a new life in a safe and secure nation have increasingly chosen Canada as their destination. Canada’s immigration policy is intended to entice qualified workers, business owners, and investors who can support the development and growth of the nation on all fronts. The organisation in charge of overseeing the nation’s immigration system is called Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and one of its signature programmes is the Express Entry programme.

What is the Express Entry Programme in Canada Immigration process?

The Express Entry programme(1) is an online system for handling skilled worker immigration applications to Canada. The system assigns points to applicants based on their skills, education, work history, language ability, and other characteristics that are essential to their immigration requirements in Canada. An Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency is given to applicants who receive a sufficient score.

A quick and easy way to become a Canadian citizen is through the Express Entry programme. Since its introduction in 2015, the programme has grown to be the most popular immigration route for skilled workers seeking to immigrate to Canada. One of the fastest immigration programmes in the world, the programme aims to process applications in six months or less.

Categories of the Express Entry Programme

Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP):

The FSWP is intended for highly qualified or skilled workers who acquire the necessary training, education, language proficiency, and work experience required for success in Canada. To qualify for the FSWP, applicants must fulfil the eligibility requirements and receive at least 67 out of a possible 100 points. The points are given based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and adaptability.

Federal Skilled Trades Programme (FSTP):

FSTP is designed for skilled workers who are qualified in a specific line of service, trade or occupation. To qualify an applicant must have Qualification Certificate in a skilled occupation service or trade and meet the language and work experience requirements.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC):

CEC  programme is designed for skilled workers with prior work experience in Canada. To be eligible for the CEC, applicants must have at least one year of professional work experience in Canada and satisfy the language and other eligibility requirements.

It should be noted that while Express Entry is integrated into a portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) (2), applicants must still qualify for one of the three federal programmes to be considered for the Express Entry pool.

Advantages of the Express Entry Programme

For skilled workers hoping to immigrate to Canada for better prospects, the Express Entry programme of the Canada immigration Process offers several benefits:

Fast process: One of the quickest immigration programmes is the Express Entry programme, which aims to process applications in six months or less. As a result, applicants can begin their new life in Canada more quickly after receiving a decision on their application.

Comprehensive Ranking System: The Express Entry programme ranks applicants based on a variety of criteria, including age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability, using a comprehensive ranking system (CRS). This makes sure that only the best candidates are chosen for Canadian permanent residency.

Higher selection probability: Candidates can create a profile through the Express Entry programme that is viewable by provincial governments and employers. This raises the likelihood that they will be chosen for a job offer or a provincial nomination, both of which can significantly raise their CRS score and raise their chances of being chosen for permanent residency.

Job opportunities: The Express Entry programme aims to entice qualified workers with the knowledge and experience that are in high demand in Canada. This indicates that candidates who are granted permanent residency are more likely to find employment opportunities in their field, which may result in a higher standard of living and more lucrative pay.

Access to government services: Permanent residents of Canada have access to a variety of government services, such as social, healthcare, and educational programmes. This can aid immigrants in adjusting to life in Canada and integrating into society there.

Citizenship Eligibility: After settling in Canada for a specific amount of time, permanent residents are qualified to apply for citizenship. Many advantages come with being a citizen of Canada, including the right to vote in Canadian elections and the use of a Canadian passport for travel.

Express Entry Draws

The Express Entry system uses a draw to select candidates for immigration to Canada. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) ranks all the Express Entry profiles against one another and assigns each candidate a CRS score out of 1200  points.

Canadian government ideally conducts an Express Entry draw once every two weeks. Each draw has a CRS cut-off score and receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
